Our Childbirth Education Classes
Currently, we offer 12 different childbirth education courses year-round. Scroll below to view details and a description for each class. You may register for one or more classes.
Please know that many of the classes have class size limits and registration deadlines. If you attempt to register for a class that is already filled or the registration deadline has passed, you will be asked to select a different class date. Baby Care Class
Cost: $ 20.00

Meets First Wednesday - Every Month
7:00 - 9:00 pm
This class will help you with the skills needed to parent your newborn infant. You will learn about feeding, diapering, bathing and comforting your new infant. You will also learn what is normal and when to call your baby’s doctor.
Breastfeeding Basics Class

Basic information about the womanly art and science of breastfeeding is covered in this class. The advantages to mother and baby and the realities of breastfeeding are discussed, as well as techniques to get off to the best start, combining breastfeeding and a busy lifestyle and handling common concerns. A Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and/or a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) teaches this class.
Car Seat Safety Class

Free car seat to those registered to deliver at Doctors Hospital. Only one seat per baby is provided.
This class is taught by Safe Kids of Georgia, in conjunction with Doctor’s Hospital. Upon completing the class, the family receives a car seat designed for infants or toddlers from 5 pounds to 40 pounds and instruction on proper use and assistance with installation in their car.
Childbirth Education for Teens

Meets on Saturday afternoon every other month
1-5 PM
This class will cover the issues of pregnancy and childbirth that are most important to teenagers. Teens can attend the class alone, with a parent, friend or the baby's father. The class will cover questions and concerns voiced by teens regarding pregnancy, labor, birth and early parenting.
Childbirth Preparation Refresher

The class content is a review of the Childbirth Preparation Series. It is condensed into approximately four hours and geared to families who have attended childbirth classes with a previous pregnancy.
The Childbirth Refresher Class should be scheduled to be completed within 2-3 weeks prior to the mother's due date. If you have special circumstances, please call us at 706-494-4361 for guidance.

Attend Once Every Week for Six Weeks

This series of 6 two-hour classes provides an overview of what to expect during childbirth: signs, symptoms and stages of labor, pain management techniques, medications and birthing options available at One Baby Place. This is an important and informative class, especially for first time parents.

Fatherhood 101 Class

This 2-hour class for MEN only features an experienced father who gives a personal and informative look at the challenges and rewards of taking care of a new baby. Men will learn basic infant care as well as long term parenting tips for a close bond between dad and baby. Also included are candid discussions about supporting the lifestyle and emotional changes facing mom and dad as well as relationship changes the couple may face.
Great Expectations Early Pregnancy Class

Meets First Wednesday - Once Every Other Month

The Early Pregnancy class will be offered every other month on the first Wednesday. This class introduces parents in their first and second trimester to the early stages of pregnancy, from conception to the sixth month. Baby's growth and development, the physical and emotional changes that occur during pregnancy, optimal nutrition, exercise and relaxation will be discussed. Signs and symptoms of preterm labor and other complications will be discussed, as well as your questions answered. An overview of One Baby Place is included with discussions about policies, LDRP delivery and amenities.
Infant Safety Class

This class gives basic information on what to do if your baby chokes, infant CPR and safety issues. Safe sleeping and how to child proof your home is also covered. It is NOT a CPR certification program.
Making Room for Baby
Cost: FREE

Making Room for Baby is a class offered every other month designed to help older brothers and/or sisters, ages 3-10, prepare for the arrival of their new sibling. This class educates families on what to expect when Mom goes to the hospital and what changes to anticipate when the new baby comes home. A tour of One Baby Place is included.
New Moms Nursing Support Group
Cost: FREE
Location: One Baby Education Place - Main Street Village
Registration Required: NoWeekly Meeting
Meets Thursday - Once Every Week
11:00 am - 1:00 pm
The first weeks and months of motherhood are full of questions and concerns. This informal group for mothers and babies meets weekly with our lactation professionals (IBCLC or CLC) to address common breastfeeding questions and issues. A scale is available for checking baby's weight to reassure mom. For more complete breastfeeding assessments, a appointment with one of our IBCLCs is suggested. This group is designed to provide information and support to the breastfeeding mother from professional and peers so that she can continue to provide nature’s best nutrition to her infant!

Nursing Babies/Toddlers Play Group
Cost: FREE
Location: One Baby Education Place - Main Street Village
Registration Required: NoWeekly Monthly
Meets the fourth Monday of each month
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
As babies grow and change, so do nursing and parenting issues. This group will meet monthly to play and explore the changes in parenting as baby grows into a toddler. Mothers with toddlers and preschoolers and new babies as well are welcome to join us. This group is facilitated by our lactation consultants (IBCLC) and/or our lactation counselors (CLC)..
